এই পর্বে মূলত একটি গবেষণা প্রবন্ধের পদ্ধতিসমূহ বা মেথডোলজি অংশ নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হবে এবং কিভাবে মেথডস অংশটি লিখতে হয় সেখানেও দৃষ্টিপাত করা হবে।
৪. পদ্ধতিসমূহ
পদ্ধতি বা মেথড অংশের উদ্দেশ্য হল আপনি মূলত কি করেছেন এবং তা কিভাবে করেছেন তা বিস্তারিতভাবে ব্যাখ্যা করা।
ফলাফল বিভাগে আপনি যে ফলাফলগুলো পাবেন বলে পরিকল্পনা করেছেন প্রতিটি ফলাফল পাওয়ার জন্য একটি পদ্ধতি অনুসরণ করতে হয়েছে। আপনি পদ্ধতি উল্লেখ না করে কোনো পরীক্ষার বা বিশ্লেষণের ফলাফল উপস্থাপন করতে পারবেন না।
কীভাবে উপযুক্ত পদ্ধতি অংশটি লিখবেন?
সুন্দর এবং সংক্ষিপ্ত পদ্ধতি অংশ লিখতে নিচের ধাপগুলো অনুসরণ করা উচিতঃ
- আপনি যদি আপনার গবেষণার নকশা প্রদর্শনের মাধ্যমে শুরু করেন তবে এটি দারুন হবে। এরপর গবেষণায় ব্যবহৃত কোনো এক অনন্য পদ্ধতি ব্যাখ্যা করা উচিত।
- এরপর আসছে, আপনি কি নিয়ে গবেষণাটি করেছেন।
- প্রধান এবং গৌণ প্রান্তবিন্দু বা এন্ডপয়েন্ট এবং সেগুলো পরিমাপের জন্য ব্যবহৃত কৌশল নির্দিষ্ট করে দিতে হবে।
- গবেষণার সাফল্যের জন্য প্রাথমিক প্রান্তবিন্দু বা এন্ডপয়েন্ট বেশ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটি বিষয়। উপরন্তু, এটিই হচ্ছে একমাত্র মানদন্ড যা আপনাকে আপনার গবেষণার ফলাফল সম্পর্কে কোনো আনুষ্ঠানিক সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার সুযোগ দেয় সুতরাং এটি সঠিক ভাবে নির্বাচন করতে হবে।

4. Methods
The goal of the methods section is to detail exactly what you did and how you did it. Every result you plan to include in your results section must have a method described – that is, you cannot present the outcomes of a test or analysis that was not mentioned in the methods.
How to write a suitable methods section?
To write a crisp and concise method section, you should follow the below-mentioned steps.
- It would be best if you begin by defining the study’s design. Then, any unique methodology used in the study’s design should be explained, either by suitable references or guidelines or by explaining the specific circumstances necessitating your particular approach.
- Then comes a description of who or what you studied.
- The major and secondary endpoints and the techniques used to measure them must be specified.
- This is crucial since the primary endpoint selection is critical to the study’s success. Furthermore, it is the only criterion that allows you to draw formal conclusions about the study’s outcome; thus, it must be chosen appropriately.
- For any specific equipment or tests utilized, you should provide complete information, including the manufacturer’s details (manufacturer’s name, city, and country of firm).
What tenses are to be used in the methods section?
In terms of tense, the methods should mostly be expressed in the past (imperfect) tense, i.e., we performed, we recorded, we measured, we tested. To explain events that occurred prior to your study, use the past perfect tense, such as “after thrombolysis failed, we commenced…”.
